The Western Regional Library, established in 1983, is located within the premises of the campus. The area occupied by the building is about18265 square feet. The library is arranged under two storied building, providing a wide range of congenial study environment for 250 readers with a spacious well-furnished reading room. It provides email and internet facilities to the readers since 2000. Similarly, it holds a stock of over 83,000 volumes of books, a number of national and international journals, as well as varieties of newspapers.

History
The concept of the library developed following the establishment of Prithvi Narayan College in 2017 BS. In the beginning, a few books were collected from the donors such as the local people. After the completion of the Arts Building of the campus in 1964, it took the shape of a library confined to a room. Due to its limited space there, it was moved to the present museum building in 1966. The prospect of further enhancement of the library became possible when the college became a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University in 1974, taking all the responsibilities of the library and ultimately turning it into the Western Regional Library in 1986.

With the passage of time, the increase in the number of collections and other activities of the campus, the library felt an urgent necessity to have its own building. In 1982, the then Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Ram Chandra Bahadur Singh laid the foundation stone for a new building of the library.

Now, the library has become a leading library in research activities and a main resource for faculty members, students and other researchers in the western region. Many readers and donors have contributed in developing this library. In this development, a Peace Corps Volunteer Dorothy Mierow, Asia Foundation, American Library Kathmandu, British Gorkha Welfare Service, Michigan State University, ICRC and ICIMOD, etc. are some examples to enhance the collections in the library.

The library continues to strengthen its collection of resources and services in order to become more attractive and reliable library. This is one of the main goals of the library.

Collections
The library's collections encompass a rich and varied universe of printed volumes, digital resources, maps, media and archival materials. The library holds over 83,000 books in total and over 2,800 dissertation of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. With close to 60 national and international journals and more than 5 national daily newspapers are in the collections. The library's digital collection continues to grow at a rapid pace. The library has the following general and special collections: Nepal collection, dissertation collection, ICRC collection and ICIMOD collection.

Sections and Services
a) Circulation Section
The circulation section provides documents, to the members of library for home reading as well as reading in the library. The documents are partially arranged on the racks in stacks as per the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme.

The Circulation Section provides services to around 12,000 students and faculty member of PN Campus. It is the busiest section of the library.
Student – 3 books for 14 days
Teachers – 10 books for 30 days

b) The Text Book Section

The text book section has approximately 8,500 syllabus related text books. Text books are most reliable source of information to the faculty members and students of the campus, especially for course/syllabus related reading. The books for this section are purchased generally on the recommendation from different faculty members through the concerned Head of the Department.

Some important documents/books/theses, etc. of the library are searchable through the library’s catalogue. If you want to locate any book, which are catalogued from the section through Author, Title, Subject, Keyword, etc, you can see in the catalogue placed on the first floor next to the circulation counter. You can ask to any of the library staff member if you are not able to locate the document on your own.

c) The Loan Book Section

The aim of the loan service is to provide access to frequently used material for short periods, especially for a few hours, to ensure that it is accessible to a large number of clients. The faculty members and students can find a place to use the books and return them as specified by the library rules and regulations. The loan collection consists mainly of recommended reading material which may include library books and other library material, photocopies of journal articles, chapters of books and privately owned books.

d) The Reference Section

The aim of the reference section is to assist the the faculty members and students to use resources of the library in an effective manner leading to their maximum utilization. The reference service is the most intensive kind of personal service in an attempt to bring together the library users and information in a personal way. The section is on the first floor that includes the computer laboratory and the librarian’s office.

In our library, there are two types of reference services: direct and indirect. Personal assistance is provided in the direct reference service, directly to the library users. It may take the form of library instruction and information service. The indirect reference service consists of information provided through bibliography, dictionary, encyclopedia, almanacs, annual publication, year book, Nepal collection, ICRC collection, ICIMOD collection, and other reference aids. This section also consists of dissertation collections, which includes the dissertations completed by the master’s and doctorate students.

e) National Audio Library for Blind

A unique and only one among the Tribhuvan University libraries consists of Audio Section and Recording Section. It provides services to blind students (up to 70 students) of the campus through audio cassettes, CDs and Braille books. Recording section produces audio text books for the blind students and distributes them to other blind institutions as well.

f) E-Resource Centre

The E-Resource Centre in the library provides online access to faculty members, students and researchers. In the near future, online databases such as JSTOR, Oxford University, etc. will be made available to our library users. This section is on the first floor next to the reference section.

g) Photocopy Section

The photocopy section is available to faculty members and students of the campus, which is located just opposite to the circulation counter. It provides services to the library users such as typing, printing, photocopy, book binding and lamination, etc. The library users can make the photocopies of certain chapters and sections of the book with the permission the library authority.

List of Thesis Titles

At PN Campus, all its faculty members, administrative staff and students find facilities for indoor sports and recreation in the sports centre. All members of the campus can also enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. These facilities are available to help make them stay in the campus a fun and healthy one. The campus seeks to provide opportunities for all its members to achieve their health potential.

Extra-curricular activities including sports activities are managed by the Student’s Welfare Division. The function of the Sports wing is to promote the sports in the campus by implementing the sports policies of the Student’s Welfare Division. In doing so, it helps develop all-around personality of students and teaching and non-teaching staff by channeling their energy in positive directions.

The campus has assigned its qualified staff to coordinate a variety of games including athletics, martial arts, football, volleyball and basketball events frequently ranging from indoor to outdoor activities. In addition, the staff also gives short training to those who participate in the tournaments outside the campus. The following facilities for sports are available on campus:

PN Campus has its own Health Centre that provides a confidential and comprehensive service of health care, with access to specialist facilities. You can make full use of its services. It provides faculty members, administrative staff and students with first-aid and other medications.

The Centre has a Health Assistant and a friendly support staff. Minor procedures such as cervical smears and simple operations can be undertaken. Frequently it organizes health camps, and free health check-up for the campus family.

Consultations and treatments are strictly confidential. Nothing is disclosed without your permission. With your agreement, the health staff can work closely with the members of the campus and the counseling service to ensure that you and your studies do not suffer unduly through ill-health, stress, or any other health related complications.

The cafeteria at PN Campus allows its clients (faculty members, administrative staff and students) to get fully involved in campus life. All its services and facilities are within easy reach that lets them have the opportunity to pursue their interests while they are in the campus. One of them is the cafeteria which is a natural meeting place on campus. The break time, usually understood as the moment one escapes from classes, is usually welcomed by all. The cafeteria aims to celebrate the importance of that moment of the day.

The campus has a cafeteria for all that offers a wide choice of refreshments and foods to suit all tastes and budgets both on our campus and close by. The cafeteria is situated behind the main administrative building and at the lap of the Bhim Dhunga.

Note: Currently, the cafeteria service has been stopped temporarily as the new management of the cafeteria has to be decided yet. The new cafeteria management will resume its services soon.
