The mission of FOM’s Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) Program is to develop socially responsive, creative and result oriented management professionals to fill up the middle level managerial positions in the rapidly growing business sector in Nepal and aboard.

The specific objectives of the BBA program are to

• Prepare students to take-up middle level managerial positions in the business sector.
• Develop student’s skill in object-oriented business management capable of understanding and solving practical business problems creatively.
• Provide professional management education with a blend of computer and management information system courses.
• Prepare students to proceed onto post graduate level study in business administration.

Teaching Pedagogy
The general teaching pedagogy will include class lectures, group discussions, case studies, practical exercises, laboratory work, project work, term papers and internship. The teaching faculty will determine the choice of the teaching methodology according the needs of the course.

The concerned teacher/instructor shall develop a detailed course outline and work plan at the beginning of each semester and also recommend the basic text and other reference materials for teaching-learning of course modules.

Internship
In the final semester, students shall be attached to the organizations where they have to work for the period of eight weeks. Each student shall prepare an individual project report in the prescribed format based on his/her work in the respective organization assigned to him/her. Evaluation of the internship shall be based on the confidential report by the organization (40%) and the project report (60%). The report must be submitted by the end of the eighth semester. Students must secure a minimum grade of ‘C’ in the internship. The internship carries a weight equivalent to 6 credit hours.

Examination, Evaluation and Grading System

The BBA program will be executed through the semester system. The regular program shall be completed in eight semesters. The internal (ongoing) evaluation and the external (end of semester) examination shall carry 40 percent and 60 percent weight age respectively. The semester examinations shall be conducted by FOM. The final grade of the student shall be determined on the overall performance in the internal and external examinations. Student must secure a minimum of grade ‘C’ or Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 in the internal evaluation in order of qualify to appear in the semester examination. In order to pass the semester examination the student must secure a minimum of grade ‘C’ or the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 .Student who secure a semester Grade of ‘D’ will not be promoted to next semester. The grading system shall be as follows:

Make-up Examination and Re-registration
In case of failure in one or more courses at the end of semester examinations students can appear in make-up examination in the subsequent semester. A student can appear only on two courses (6 credit hours) in the make-up examination. If the student fails in the make-up In case of failure in one or more coerces at the end of semester examination he/she shall have to re-register and repeat the course as per the course cycle. A student can re-register only two courses (6 credit hours) in a semester. The examination of the registered course shall be held as per the course style.

Attendance

Students are required to attend regularly all lectures, practical classes, seminars and presentations as required by the course. A candidate for the examination must have attended a minimum of 80% of such activities in order to be eligible to appear in the semester examination.

Credit Transfers and Withdrawal
The program allows student to transfer the credits earned by them in similar program of other universities recognized by Tribhuvan University. The maximum credit transfer allowed to a student shall be 30 credit hours. The FOM shall have the final authority to decide on the credit transfers.

A student who has partially completed the BBA program and would like to discontinue his/her studies shall also be allowed to withdraw from the program. In such cases, a certificate specifying the credit earned by the program in the program shall be provided.

Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) is a newly designed 4 years, 8 semester course of Tribhuvan University faculty of management (FOM). It is an intensive professional program based on the student-centered learning approach. The curricular structure of BBM program has business tool courses, business foundation courses, focus area courses and elective area courses.

The course is designed with the following objectives:

• Develop students’ skills in creative thinking, decision making, leadership, communication, and gain understanding of operations and change.
• Develop students’ understanding of entrepreneurship and innovation, and effective management of business operations in a dynamic business environment.
• Prepare students for professional life to work as business manager and entrepreneur.

The program covers total 120 credit hours dividing 15 credit hours in each semester. Each semester constitute of 16 weeks of intensive study. The performance of students will be evaluated through ongoing in-semester evaluations and semester-end examinations. The in-semester (internal) evaluation shall generally have a total weight of 40 percent in each course. The semester-end examinations on course work related subjects shall have a total weight of 60 percent.

The grading system followed in the BBM program will be based on the absolute performance of a student in the in-semester evaluation and semester-end examinations. The BBM degree is awarded upon its successful completion of all the following requirements specified by the curriculum.

The successful completion of 120 credit hours as prescribed with a minimum of passing grade in all courses with CGPA of 2.00.

A minimum of grade ‘C’ obtained in the Project Report Writing Or Internship.

Completed all the course requirements as specified in the curricular structure section within the maximum time period specified in the normal and maximum duration of the study section.

Students who want to enroll for BBM Program must pass the CMAT examination.  The colleges running the program shall conduct the individual presentations and interviews for selecting suitable candidates. The objective of the MBS programme is to enable the students to work as competent managers and to meet the demand of higher level managers in organizations, particularly in the functional areas of management. Upon graduation, a student should be able to function as a manager in business, industry, government and non-government sectors, within and outside the country, in areas like accounting, marketing, finance and general management.

The MBS programme specifically aims to:

Developing managerial practice is a central concern of the Faculty of Management (FOM), Tribhuvan University
(TU). The emphasis upon practice is reflected in various Master level programs of the FOM. FOM program lays
special emphasis on developing graduates managerial and entrepreneurial skills over a solid foundation of
theories and techniques. Through this two-year (60) credit hours program students develop their knowledge and
management skills on the basis of a good understanding of the economic, social, political milieu both at the
national and global levels.
